- The best time to visit any of the waterfalls on Koh Phangan is during monsoon season or just after a heavy rainstorm. Although at other times some waterfalls will have water in them, others will be dry. Check the weather forecast beforehand.
- Be aware of slippery and sharp surfaces. Trails and rocks around the waterfalls can be slippery, especially when wet.
- If the stream of water is fast flowing, don’t try and walk through it as the current is stronger than it looks. You will end up getting dragged down and across the rocks.
- Most of the waterfalls are within dense forest or jungle and it gets very hot. Make sure you carry plenty of drinking water with you.
- Don’t forget your camera as there are some awesome photo opportunities.
- Don’t try and see too many waterfalls in one day. Maybe decide on visiting 2 in one day so you can fully enjoy the waterfalls, views and scenery.
- Wear sensible footwear. Flip flops/slippers are not ideal for hiking up to the waterfalls.
Getting to Than Prawet Waterfall Koh Phangan
Access Routes
Than Prawet Waterfall is located on the northeast coast of Koh Phangan. It is easily accessible from Thong Nai Pan Noi Beach or from the main road above the bay, although it is not well signposted. One route to reach the waterfall is to follow the small stream that enters the village near Luna Lounge. Another option is to walk up the road out of Thong Nai Pan Noi and turn right just before the main road. Following the track past the Buddhist Monument will lead to the start of the waterfall.
